An embrace goes out to all.
Still at home, thinking, worrying, hoping….and still trying to learn stuff during this extended, unforeseen break from the road, which has been my life, by and large, for many years. I don’t think I’ve been off an airplane this long since my 20’s. But, the personal blessing that has accrued to me is actually to be home, seeing Annie, every day.
So, still devoting time to learning Capture One. A while back, as I began this journey, we scheduled a webinar, and that goes forward tomorrow. I’ll be teaching (and continuing to learn!) with one of the best in the business, David Grover. If interested to join us, here is where you reserve a spot: Webinar Link. We begin at 12:00pm, EDT and will run for about an hour. David’s home base is the UK, and Capture One HQ is in Denmark. So, it will be an event that sprawls over a few time zones. Running concurrently is our long planned Instagram takeover of the Capture One Instagram feed. Very honored, and apologies, in terms of altering the schedule. We postponed it a bit from its original start.
With David’s guidance, I’ll be working through some of the copious tool box that is Capture One. We had been using Capture One as a tethering program for a long while, but now, I’m looking forward to getting back in the field, shooting into the program, selecting and finishing the files without ever accessing another application. Seamless. I have a lot to learn, as post-production has not necessarily been comfortable territory for me, but here we go. Excited as I learn new stuff, and happy with results I am getting.
In the webinar, I’ll be taking NEFs from the raw stage to a finished stage, using material I just shot, as well as a shot or so from my very early days of digital. And with the ever knowledgeable David at the helm, this will be a guided tour of possibilities. I’ll be covering the idea of taking a good capture in camera, and enhancing and improving it, without losing the original sense of intent. David will offer a couple notes on the new Capture One for Nikon, and how that could be a cost savings to those who shoot only Nikon cameras.
Looking forward to working some files, with a whole bunch of folks tuning in! Gulp!!! :-)))
More tk….
Joe- I’ve followed you since the ‘70’s. Not yours, the Earth’s. And you’ve NEVER been better. The tools, Digital, software AL make it better, but bottom line: Your EYE is better!
Looking forward to learning with you 🙂 Kind regards, Piotr
Thanks Joe, looking forward to it!
Hi Joe, I watched it and it was good to see you’re doing well so far! I use CO myself. Though image quality is very good I struggle a lot with the workflow of CO. That’s why I use CO only for certain images.
I have followed your work for many years but your webinar with CO 20 was disappointing and felt like ‘lending you famous name” to a product – very little of your unique talent and experience was shared with the many who tuned in ad were prepared to receive your words. I a old enough to not be impressed with ‘famous’ personalities. You have shortchanged your followers. This is response is not to hurt or complain, but ask you to stay truthful to your craft and keep sharing your wisdom as you have in the past.
Ok, I hear your words and will take into consideration. What I was hoping for was my enthusiasm for learning this new program, even though I have been a photog for a long time, would be hopefully instructive, esp. to others who might be new to the program. All Best
Hey Rudi…thanks for tuning in. I’m on the flip side. I’m finding one of the things I love about the program is the workflow. Seems intuitive for me, whereas Photoshop and Lightroom were never that. All Best, Joe
Wow…that’s very kind of you. Humbling words…always trying to get better…it’s what we do with a camera, keep experimenting, keep pushing our skills…
Thank you for responding to my review of your webinar at CO 20.
Perhaps in time, you will come back with some idea(s) of just how CO 20 is enables and elevates your talent and skill. I think we know what. you are capable of, I’m guessing. you will be able to very quickly, see things on CO 20 that we cannot.
