I’ve been known to use a Speedlight or two on occasion. Like the banner shot up top is 32 Nikon Speedlights, all cranking away in unison. Hence, battery power, efficiency and durability has always been important to me. Been working with our friends now at Maha Energy who manufacture the Powerex brand of rechargeable batteries and chargers that run our Speedlights, lanterns, transmitters–you name it–for years. We’ve enjoyed a wonderful, collaborative relationship so naturally we put our heads together to think of an idea to highlight February 18th – National Battery Day!
Happy to share the environmental message on the Maha site discussed on their Sustainability page. The facts I read there about battery use and consumption are astonishing.
So, here’s the fun part. TWO winners will be chosen in honor of Battery Day based on the following:
Email one shot of your favorite thing being powered with Powerex Batteries. Discretion is advised;-)
Best pic wins a prize from Maha and they will share the image from our blog page on their social media channels, with credit to the photog. (Again, there are two prize winners.) Just a fun thing and also raises awareness of reaching for rechargeables instead of alkalines in the future. (Note…photographers retain all rights to their images, and the winning images will simply be shared mutually on social channels.)
IMPORTANT TO NOTE! ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE SENT IN BY MIDNIGHT, SUNDAY, FEB, 24TH. Photos should be good quality jpegs. Ideally 3000 pixels on the long end and between 5-8mb for the file size. Deadline is a HARD STOP, and the winning two pics will be run here on the blog on MONDAY FEB 25th. Judge’s decision will be final. (Uh…that would be me:)
SEND ALL SUBMISSIONS TO : studio@joemcnally.com with MAHA in the subject header.
Each Winner will receive a set (valued at close to $200 bucks) which includes:
(1) Powerex 8-Cell 1 Hour Charger
(1) Powerex PRO AA 2700mAh 8-Pack
(1) Powerex Accessory Padded Bag
(1) Powerex Rechargeable LED Lantern
Additionally, Maha has this coupon code JoeNBD19 for readers which is active now until 2/28/19 for a 10% discount on the entire website on top of any sales they currently have going on. Which is cool. Tip of the hat to Maha.
More tk….
Did you mean 3000 px on the long side? DPI sounds odd.
Been using these for years since I first saw your recommendation. Thanks again Joe!
Meaning 3000 long– meaning pixels…sorry for the confusion…
On occasion? ROFL!
Somehow never knew these existed. Thanks for the en-light-ening post.
It’s about battery power! For sure big understatement. Loved this image when you first posted it. It’s like looking at a painting as there is so much to discover. I don’t know how often I was looking at it. I don’t know how you do it, Joe. But on almost each of your images there is always so much to discover which makes me stay longer with your images as I think I will usually do. And I bet you could do that also with different batteries 😉
:-))))))
