Istanbul is simply one of the most amazing cities on the planet. Straddling the Bosphorus Strait, it looks east and west in terms of history and culture. The architecture is astounding, reflecting the city’s past and present, and the food is stunning. A walk through Istanbul in good light is a nonstop series of lovely discoveries.

Which is why Liza Politi, Ari Espay, and yours truly are organizing yet another adventure, cameras in hand. This coming September, we will be there for two separate workshops, week one starting on Aug.29th through Sept. 4th, and then group two starting September 6th and running through to September 12th. Here is a link for full info PDF…..Â
The Hotel Ajwa, where we are staying at, in the old city, looks amazing.Â
And the thing about this workshop, which is terrific, is that we will be all over the city in the markets, bazaars, and on the river, and to the famed Blue Mosque, and more. There is so much in the city to cover endlessly, we will be at this wonderful hotel for the whole time. No need for bus trips to the hinterlands. Istanbul is a jewel, a nonstop photographic smorgasbord, which we will visit with every single day, in all manner of light. Portraiture, street shooting, architecture, culture, color in the markets (not to mention shopping!) will be our mission every day.

I’ve been anxious to go back. Last time I shot extensively there I was doing a campaign for FedEx, and I had marvelous opportunities to shoot, albeit I had to, somewhere in the picture, make sure there was a FedEx package! 🙂
So looking forward to going there again, especially with Liza and Ari. Istanbul is a city designed for Ari’s skills as a street shooter. (Couple of frames in this blog are shot by him as noted.) Any questions about this photographic adventure can be directed to [email protected].
More tk…..
Wow! What a truly marvellous location! Wish I could be there! (And Turkish coffee cures just about anything!!). Hope it goes amazingly well for all involved.
I love you Joe, and you are my idol, to bad the price of the workshop translated to pesos is the equivalent to buy a new car here in Mexico. But keep posting blogs and videos, I’ll watch them.
