Excited to be heading back to Birmingham next month with Annie and teaching at The Photography Show. Had a great time when we went a few years ago. The place is packed and I loved all the energy and enthusiasm. Met so many wonderfully talented photogs, it became a favorite show for me. A big bonus for us is to hang out with friends like Dave Clayton and Glyn Dewis, which is a win-win. (Or should I say, “pint, pint?”) Got to sit down with Dave and Glyn in December when we were in London and had a ball on their podcast He Shoots, He Draws…
Also, our friends from Rocky Nook Publishing will be there. Scott Cowlin and Ted Waitt make the trek all the way from San Francisco, again, drawn by the excitement of this show.
During TPS, I’ll be doing live demos on stage throughout the show at the Nikon and Lastolite booths, having fun with the audience of course, and hope I can get photographer Jakob Gronkjaer on stage again since we had a hoot! Jakob is a terrific young shooter who runs Danish Apple Photography.
Thanks to our friends at Nikon School UK, we’re leading two photo walks around NEC (a dangerous notion to let me loose outside for a wander.) Register here while spots are available: TPS Photo Walks – Saturday & Sunday. Great opportunity to leave the convention center floor for a bit and get outside for some hands-on, real-time problem solving with available light and flash.
Will be fun to be on the Photo Live Stage again on Monday March 18 at 16:00-16:45. Think I’ll be the last one up that day so who knows what might happen 🙂
Below is a discount code and details from the organizers to share for anyone who hasn’t bought a ticket yet.
Ticket discount code: SPKTPS19
Gives 20% off standard adult tickets. This can’t be used in conjunction with any other offer, including concession, multi-day and group discounts. Applies to new bookings only and expires on 13 March 2019.
As usual, can’t wait to visit the UK. Lots of friends and a wonderful photo community which we are happy to be a small part of…..more tk…
A Pint, Pint sounds like a good idea. Hope to catch one of your talks that weekend if they are on the Saturday or Sunday.
Ha, I’m honoured to get a mention Joe, and I’ll be sure to wear my sharpest suits… look forward to seeing you at the show.
Hi Joe.
Are you just there on the Monday 18th? The only mention of you on the TP page is for the Monday:

I can’t find anything on the Nikon programme either:

Hi Kris…no, will be there for the whole show….in Nikon and Lastolite booths and doing photowalks with Nikon over the weekend. Also on the live stage. If you email studio@joemcnally.com we can send you the whole sked for what we are involved in. Best, Joe
When you talk about Birmingham … Peaky Blinders is what strikes in my mind. I sincerely request you to capture one reflecting Tommy Shelby character.
Would love to….I loved Birmingham!
Birmingham has some insane night life, great urban streets for awesome street photography. Loving the soft lighting technique here, something I always try to strive for myself.
