Joe,

How many images are taken along the way before you get the winner? It seems from the video that you’re slowly inching your way to perfection and those steps are only realized after the shutter is pressed.

I would really be interested to know the total image count for an “all-hands” shoot like this one.

Joe, a mighty thank you for this behind-the-scenes peek- always amazed at how you pull it off, make it look so easy. These videos are like finding Easter eggs of hope along a photographer’s journey. Thank you again for sharing and doing what you do.

interesting that so many resources are required, but it shows in the incredible detail.

gratuitous breast, i’d say. a weird decision. some day the photo world will change, anyone see the incredibly tacky almost-naked body painted girls at the photo expo yesterday? and the horde of men in front with the cameras smashed into their faces? when will it end?

I love the makeup and trompe l’oeil in the shot. It makes you wonder where the illustration stops and the photography begins, right? Couldnt shoot it without the drawing, couldnt show it without the camera…

Jen’s POV is interesting, but falls on deaf ears in a male world. I kind of agree, odd decision not to be more PC. I too saw those “cheesy” models at the PhotoExpo, right out of a 1950s photo mag, but updated to real life.

Enjoyed the BTS video to see how the image came together. What’s the light source inside the book? Wasn’t sure if you placed a smaller speedlight or a constant light source. Curious minds would like to know. Thanks!

Thank you for posting a behind the scenes look at the the time, hard work & talent that went into this photograph. I always enjoy Joe’s lighting explanations. Was there by chance a small light source coming from the inside the book in addition to the flashlight?
